Former North Warren Superintendent Brian Fogelson is charged with sex crimes in Nova Scotia.

A former Warren County schools superintendent awaiting two trials in Canada on decades-old sex crime allegations is no longer allowed to teach in New Jersey.

Brian Fogelson, who retired from the North Warren Regional School District in 2015, consented to the suspension of his teaching certifications effective April 6, according to an order by the state education department.

In May 2015, Canadian authorities charged Fogelson with sex crimes based on allegations from between 1975 and 1978, when he taught music in Nova Scotia to students from kindergarten through 12th grade.

An investigation began in 2012 when the first accuser went to police. A second accuser came forward in 2015.

The superintendent was living in Blairstown Township and retired from North Warren that June, relocating to Venice, Fla. He previously was an administrator at Catasauqua High School in Pennsylvania and Delaware Valley Regional High School in Hunterdon County.

Separate trials are scheduled for September and October in Nova Scotia.
