The crash happened in front of the township municipal building and briefly knocked out power.
A driver was hospitalized Saturday after their vehicle struck a utility pole on Route 31 directly in front of the Washington Township municipal building, according to township police.
The crash happened shortly before noon, when the southbound vehicle veered off the road to the right and hit a speed limit sign and the pole, police said.
The driver, who was not identified in the police report, was taken to St. Luke's Hospital in Phillipsburg.

A spokeswoman for Jersey Central Power & Light parent company First Energy said 204 customers lost power between noon and 1 p.m.
