Drunken teen stole chips from QuickChek and ran, cops say

Police said the teen appeared intoxicated during the theft.

A 19-year-old New Hampshire teen is facing charges after consuming alcohol, entering a Hackettstown convenience store and stealing various types of chips, according to police.

James Karsonovich, of Hampton Hills, entered the QuickChek at 80 Main Street shortly after midnight Wednesday and began removing bags of chips from the shelves, police said.

Karsonovich stole bags of Lays Dill Pickle chips, Cheetos Flamin Hot chips and Doritos Dinamita before fleeing the store, police said.

An officer found Karsonovich walking along Grand Avenue and he exhibited signs of intoxication, police said.

Karsonovich was charged with shoplifting, consumption of alcohol by a minor and disorderly conduct. He was released pending a court appearance.
