She allegedly helped another suspect get to the Canadian border, where they were detained.

A woman connected to a deadly fight outside a White Township home has been charged for allegedly helping another suspect get to the Canadian border.

Charity Bucey, 37, of the Mansfield Village apartments in Mansfield Township, is accused of hindering the apprehension of Steven Segarra, who in turn faces a count of first-degree aggravated manslaughter in the Jan. 19 death of 39-year-old John P. Ranallo.

Ranallo had gone to the home at 94 Route 46, near the eastern edge of White Township, to pick up his daughter when Segarra called him outside and a fight ensued, according to the Warren County Prosecutor's Office.

Ranallo was knocked to the ground and hit repeatedly, authorities said. He was reportedly able to get up and go back inside, where he collapsed and never regained consciousness. Ranallo died on the way to the hospital, investigators said.

Segarra and Bucey -- and possibly a second unidentified woman, according to the prosecutor's office -- were detained the next day as they crossed the border in the Lewiston, New York, area near Niagara Falls. The charges against Bucey, filed in state Superior Court in Belvidere, allege she provided transportation to Segarra.

Segarra, also of Mansfield Township, is charged with one count of first-degree aggravated manslaughter. Authorities have said more charges may be pending the completion of an investigation by New Jersey State Police and the prosecutor's office.

Segarra faces up to 30 years in prison if convicted on the manslaughter charge. His extradition status was unclear Thursday.

In addition to the hindrance count, Bucey is also charged with simple assault for kicking a person in the face Jan. 19, according to the criminal complaint.

She was sent to the Warren County jail in lieu of $10,000 bail.
