FLEMINGTON -- A man who was among Hunterdon County's most wanted fugitives has died in Cambodia, officials report.

Haas was listed among the most wanted fugitives by both the Hunterdon County and Warren County prosecutor's offices.
Detectives investigated a report of Haas' death received by a reporter for New Jersey Advance Media. They found an article in the Khmer language in the Koh Santepheap Daily News that included images of him. They were able to identify him using pictures and identifying marks from the National Crime Information Center. According to reports, Haas was owner of Captain Kurt's Bar in Sihanoukville, Cambodia.
A detective ultimately reached out to a friend of Haas', who confirmed that Haas died at Sihanoukville International Clinic.
Haas was listed among Hunterdon's Most Wanted in August 2013, sought on multiple charges of driving while intoxicated. He was among Warren County's most wanted in June 2014. At that point he was charged with one count of driving with a suspended license in Greenwich Township, after at least two counts of driving while intoxicated.
Crimestoppers putting dent in crime
Haas faced multiple charges in the region related to driving while intoxicated. In September 2010 he was charged with driving while intoxicated near Clinton Township Middle School. In February 2012 he was indicted in Hunterdon County on four counts of driving while his license was suspended, fourth degree.
Fugitive Task Force detectives weren't surprised by the tip about Haas' death, noting that people from all over the country visit the office's website and crimestoppershunterdon.com to check the Hunterdon's Most Wanted listings.
